Glycerin
INCI Name: Glycerin
Common name: Glycerin (also: Glycerol)
What it is
A clear, odourless liquid derived from plant oils or produced synthetically. The glycerin used in Botaneca formulations is plant-derived. It is one of the most extensively studied and widely used cosmetic ingredients.
What it does in a formula
Draws water from the environment and from deeper layers of the skin into the surface layer, improving hydration. It also reinforces the skin barrier and helps other ingredients penetrate more effectively.
Why Botaneca uses it
Used across multiple formulations as a humectant, at varying concentrations depending on the formula. Plant-derived, well-tolerated by all skin types including sensitive, and backed by decades of safety and efficacy data.
