Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

INCI Name: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil

Common name: Jojoba Oil

What it is

Technically a liquid wax ester rather than a true oil, pressed from the seed of the jojoba shrub (Simmondsia chinensis), native to the Sonoran Desert. It is chemically distinct from most plant oils and is highly stable, with a long shelf life and strong resistance to oxidation.

What it does in a formula

An emollient with a lightweight, non-greasy texture that absorbs readily. Its wax ester structure is similar to human sebum, making it well-tolerated by most skin types. Provides skin-conditioning benefits without feeling heavy or occlusive.

Why Botaneca uses it

Used in facial and body formulations where a lightweight emollient is needed. Its stability means it does not go rancid quickly, which supports product shelf life without additional antioxidants at high levels.
